ENCHOIR VST v1.3 (C) prodyon Function description of Enchoirīs knobs and buttons. ______________________________________________________________________________ DOUBLE This effect kind of "doubles" the incoming dry lead vocal (stereo thickening). It uses two detuned variants of the input vocal and shifts one to the left and the other one the right to create a lovely stereo-image. ______________________________________________________________________________ AUTO MUTE When you sing and play you always here the dry lead vocal together with the choir singing. When this button is clicked, the lead vocal be always muted whenever you play a single note or a chord. Can be useful when you want to let the choir "repeat" a phrase without the lead singer coming through. ______________________________________________________________________________ HARMONY HOLD When you click this button, the incoming audio (from the dry lead vocal) will instantly be "frozen" and therefore held. Use it in conjunction when you play a chord or a note on your keyboard, otherwise you wonīt hear the effect. It is most useful when singing "Aah" or "Ooh". Donīt try pushing this button randomly when playing and singing - the results wonīt be convincable. ______________________________________________________________________________ FOLLOW HARMONY This function does pitch the individual choir-voices that you play up or down depending on where (vocal pitch) the singer sings. It is a kind of automatic choir-shifting/pitching depending on the sungen lead note. Great to give the impression that individual choir-singers are singing up and down rather of just the note(s) that you play on your keyboard. ______________________________________________________________________________ REVERB OFF In most cases, people prefer to use their own favourite reverb. If you want to do so - just click this button to disable the built-in reverb. ______________________________________________________________________________ LEAD / CHOIR This knob affects the ratio between the incoming dry lead vocal and the choir. You can see it as a mix knob to balance out the lead vocal and the choir. ______________________________________________________________________________ SPREAD This knob moves the lead and choir in the stereo-panorama from left to right and vice-versa. When pushed to the left the lead vocals appears on the left and the choir on the right in the stereo image. ______________________________________________________________________________ BLUR This is used to "blur" or "soften" the choir and make it sound less static and robotic. Together with a good portion of reverb this adds realism. ______________________________________________________________________________ SCOOP This knob controls the amount of vocal scooping within the choir. The more you turn it to the right the more scooping will occur (pitching from a lower note to the pitch of the actual note(s) you press). ______________________________________________________________________________ BLUE NOTES With this knob it is possible to add further realism to the choir. The more you turn it to the right the more the singers will be "out of tune". ______________________________________________________________________________ REVERB MIX Controls the balance of the reverb for the lead input and the choir. When pushed hard left only the lead vocal will full reverb. When pushed hard right the choir will get the full reverb whereas the lead vocal will sound completely dry. ______________________________________________________________________________ REVERB SIZE Is used to alter the length of the reverb-tail (maximum around 10 seconds). ______________________________________________________________________________ STEREO WIDTH Can be used to widen or shrinken the stereo-image. The more you turn it to the right the widener the stereoimage will be. ______________________________________________________________________________ BREATH Is used to add clarity and brightness to the choir. Especially with some choir-modes being a bit unresponsive to certain singers/vocals, with this knob you can overcome that problem by adding stereo-noise to the choir signal. ______________________________________________________________________________ CHOIR STYLE OFF, MIXED, DARK and CHIPMUNK This alters the formants of the individual choir-voices kind of semi-randomly. The default mode "mixed" give all individual choir voices different formant values. Good for a huge sounding choir. "Dark" and "Chipmunk" can be used to create very doomish sounding choirs or childrenīs choir respectively. "Off" completly resets the formants, leaving them unchanged. ______________________________________________________________________________ PHRASE MODE This button lets you activate the phrase mode. As soon as it is enabled, it will record whatever you sing into a buffer of up to 10 seconds. As soon as you stop singing (the input volume goes below the threshold) it stops recording (the LED is unlit). When you play some chords or notes on your keyboard now, the phrase-recorder will go into playback-mode and play back the previously recorded audio as long as you hold at least one note on your keyboard or the recording time is over/or the recording itself. It can be played back as often as you wish as long you dont sing again - since then it will start recording the new input automatically. ______________________________________________________________________________ CLEAN CHOIR MODE A very thick and natural sounding algorithm. Turned on by default. CHURCH CHOIR MODE Immitates the sound of a choir singing in a church. Great results can be made when using in conjunction with the "Dark" choir style. OPERA CHOIR MODE Immitates the sounds of opera singers within a choir. ROBOT CHOIR MODE A freaked-out choir mode which also alters the incoming lead vocal audio. WHISTLE Can be used together with "whistling" to achieve great whistling sounds. ______________________________________________________________________________ ENCHOIR (C) Written by D.
